Jenn Gethers

About

Jenn is a Speech-Language Pathologist, speech therapy game creator, web platform developer, and dog person. A graduate of UCLA and San Diego State University and a current resident of Orange County, she's proud to call Southern California home. When she's not building games for Speech Arcade, Jenn enjoys spending time outside hiking, biking, and camping.

Experience

At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Jenn was practicing as a Speech-Language Pathologist in San Diego, working with elementary and high school students. As the world moved online, she found herself sorely disappointed with the quality of online speech therapy resources available. While there were some options here and there, the things that she found were largely outdated and completely bored her students. Out of a desire to keep the quality of her online sessions up to par with in-person sessions, she began making her own materials. After sharing one of the resources she'd made in a Facebook group one morning and finding that over 3,000 SLPs had downloaded it by the end of the school day, Jenn realized that she was far from the only one who had been struggling to find relevant, engaging materials to use online - and a new passion was born.

With a new fervor for creating and a growing desire to make fellow SLPs' lives easier, Jenn began dedicating more and more time to resource creation and online platform development. Speech Arcade started as a small project and quickly grew to what it is today: the leading platform for high-quality, interactive speech and language therapy games for both online and in-person therapy.

Currently, Jenn creates speech therapy games and maintains various online platforms, including Speech Arcade, full-time.
